Minutes of the July 9, 2005 meeting of the Weld Amateur Radio Society

• Meeting called to order by Rob KA0VNB.
• The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented.
• Everyone in attendance introduced themselves.
• Ava KA0RXJ presented the treasurer's report.
  • We have 18 paid up members as of the start of the meeting.
• Red Cross is consolidating. Greeley office to close.
  • We may need to find a new place to meet.
  • Some radio room equipment will be sold.
  • Recommended we keep the APRS equipment as a complete package.
• Repeater report from Stan K0KZA.
  • We will order a new chip for the repeater so default settings are what IRLP needs.
  • Call sign will be changed to the clubs call sign.
• Repeater site needs about three more hours of work.
  • Work party on July 22 to complete work.
• Cliff W0ITD feels we have a great nucleus of a club. Members are very willing to put in time for the clubs needs.
• Bill KC0NJD informed members that the Sunday evening net is going well. However, only one check in last week.
• Cliff suggested we designate Bill as net control and identify three backups.
• Cliff will have a list of club equipment to be sold on the next Sundays (July 10) net.
• Richard K0RAW provided the ARES update.
  • July 27 we need about six hams in Milliken and Greeley for exercise. This is a Wednesday morning.
  • We could use at least one more volunteer for the Courage Classic.
• Richard is looking to build a high speed digital network for northern Colorado. He is trying to get ARES to move away from packet to 128Kbps on 1.2 GHz.
• Berry N0OYM and Stan will work out remaining issues with repeater and IRLP. Once resolved, Berry will provide a presentation on how to use the IRLP system.
• Rick WA0DDC suggested we used sealed bids when selling the club equipment.
• Cliff will show members the equipment to be sold after the meeting.
• Dave W0EDW provided a field day update. Dave worked 300+ stations.
