Minutes of the April 8, 2006 meeting of the Weld Amateur Radio Society
- Meeting called to order by Rob, KA0VNB at 9:16AM.
- Introductions
- Rob, KA0VNB provided:
- Don Forster will be coming to the meeting to sign a General Use Agreement.
- An update of the club’s current and future relationship with the Fire Fighters Union Association.
- A general discussion of past ARES activities and how the club can support ARES in the future.
- ARES has meetings scheduled for the fourth Saturday of the month.
- ARES will have a NWS Spotter Training on May 6th at the Weld County branch office (training center) near I-25 and C-119.
- George, WD0GNE provided:
- A status report of the new 2-meter repeater.
- A larger replacement power supply caused an over-voltage problem as a result the new repeater suffered a failure of two transistors and a resistor.
- Suggested that we use Power Pole connectors for the power leads on the equipment at the repeater site.
- Berry, N0OYM provided:
- A report of the repairs done to the new repeater thus far. The Power transistor in the PA stage needs to be replaced.
- If some goes out to the repeater site, please help dispose of the boxes of trash near the repeater’s building.
- Events coming up:
- The Ft. Collins Marathon is this coming Mother’s Day, contact Minor, K7YJ if you would like to help with this event.
- March of Dimes events are coming up for Greeley and Loveland on April 29th.
- Mike, KC0FNE has made an offer to purchase the club’s two unused 70cm radios.
- Old business:
- Bill, W0AVH stated that the Sunday night nets are doing well and ARRL’s Audio News is still being used during the nets.
- New Business:
- Discuss the need to purchase a new power supply and the equipment to support the backup batteries.
- Berry, N0OYM presented the treasurer's report.
- Minutes from last month’s meeting was approved.
- Cliff, W0ITD announce that a bicycle race event will be coming up soon.
- Don Forster provided:
- A presentation to the members present of their future plans with the old Red Cross building.
- Presented a General Use Agreement, both Don and Rob, KA0VNB signed the agreement. (Viewable on the club’s website)
- The club will provide Don Forster will a list of club officers and their contact information should the Fire Fighters Union Association need to contact the club.
- Meeting adjourned at 10:24AM.
