Minutes of the October 14, 2006 meeting of the Weld Amateur Radio Society
- Meeting called to order by Rob, KA0VNB at 9:01 AM
- Minutes from last meeting approved.
- Berry, N0OYM provided the treasurer’s report
- Berry, N0OYM provided a report of the repeaters:
- 440 repeater is operational
- Backup repeater on air while new repeater is being repaired
- Had person climb tower
- Checked 2M array
- Tested hard line- less than 1 ohm resistance
- Did continuity test- no shorts detected
- Cleaned connections, are now working better
- New repeater should operate well with current setup
- Wattage coming out of the cans may be heavy, may need adjusting
- Was unable to remove old pigtail to install new one
- Rob, KA0VNB asked about distributing a “cheat sheet” for IRLP Node
- Codes only needed for autopatch- sheet will be distributed with October meeting minutes
- Same codes used for old repeater and new repeater
- Old business:
- Project at Red Cross building-putting up J Pole antennas
- Had not obtained PO Box for club at time of meeting
- Cliff, W0ITD provided update about school visits
- Encouraging show of interest on last 2-3 visits
- Comm trailer has been very helpful
- Call for volunteers

- Rob, KA0VNB asked about sending reminders to members who have not renewed. Will try via email first and then use regular mail
- Peter, N7TDJ provided ARES update
- Randy is new Emergency Coordinator for district 10
- Chet Norris and Randy teaching emergency response class
- USC had test on October 11, 2006, the message passing exercise went well
- FCC’s LPN was passed- not finalized until 30 days after federal registry
- No longer have to announce tests
- Eliminated RACES frequency- expanded frequencies for all license classes
- Peter, N7TDJ indicated that there is an issue with a link on the ARRL website.
