Minutes of the February 10, 2007 meeting of the Weld Amateur Radio Society

Meeting called to order by Rob KA0VNB at 9:03 am
Minutes from last meeting approved
Berry N0OYM provided the treasury’s report
Cliff W0ITD, talked with Bud Stanley regarding electricity use at the repeater site.

Suggestion was made that a secondary meter be attached to the building that the repeater is in and the club begin paying for the electricity that the equipment is using.
Berry N0OYM suggested that the club pay a premium in addition to the going rate of electricity per kWh (15-20 cents per kWh)
Stan K0KZA suggested that the club continue paying $20/month for electricity under the assumption that the clubs use of electricity is less than $20 per month.
Motion was made to allocate approximately $200 dollars to have secondary meter installed at the repeater site contingent on Stanley’s approval. Motion approved.
Cliff W0ITD suggested that equipment at the repeater site be tested to see how much electricity is being used. Berry N0OYM has already performed the tests and will bring printouts of the results to the next meeting.

New repeater is not working well in cold weather. Old repeater has been put on air while new one is being tested.
Stan K0KZA offered to donate enclosed rack to put new repeater in so the club can heat just the cabinet rather than the entire building.

Rob KA0VNB is waiting for snow to melt to access Red Cross building to put up J pole antennas

OJ K0OJ announced that the test session for Feb 10th 2007 has been moved to Feb 24th 2007 and tests will continue to be held at the Farr Library.

Swap Fest Feb 11th 2007 at the Adams County Fairgrounds
Peter N7TDJ mentioned that there is Stormchasers convention in Denver February 14th, 15th and 16th.
Rob and Mike are able to access EchoLink.
Cliff W0ITD suggested that the club needs to find ways of getting more membership. Call for volunteers to help with school projects
Rob KA0VNB mentioned that the Ft Collins Marathon will be held the weekend before Mother’s Day.
