Minutes of the May 10, 2008 meeting of the Weld Amateur Radio Society

• Meeting called to order by Rob KA0VNB at 9:15
• Minutes from last meeting approved
• Correction of minutes from 04-12-08
•  ARES group looking for volunteers.
• Courage Classic-can sign up on website as well- Google ‘Courage Classic’
• Berry N0OYM-Treasurers report-did report for March and April
• Berry N0OYM provided a report of the repeaters:

• 2 meter up
• 440 down while working on controller and converting to 12v
• IRLP, EchoLink are up and running
•  New controller
• SCOM released firmware upgrade
• Working on UHF link radio
• After the 440 repeater is done, 2 M will have to be off air while wiring and replacing components. May replace with old repeater while doing this, will have to be wary of interference.
• Win K8GYC suggested that all cable at repeater site be double shielded to reduce interference.
• Berry N0OYM spoke to Rob Stanley. Bud and Rob are pleased with their relationship with the club. Bud is looking to clear some weeds from the repeater site, will let Berry know when he plans to do this and club members may be able to help.  

• Old Business:

• Rob KA0VNB- Discussed packet backbone project
• ARES District 10 looking for new emergency coordinator. Meets on 145.115 Thursdays at 7PM
• Rob KA0VNB- Events
• Weather spotter training successful. 10-12 attended.
• About 16 people came to Ft Collins Marathon-were able to cover all positions.
• MS150 Bike Race June 28
• August 12- Denver Radio Club Ham Fest
• September 28-BARC fest

• New Business:

• Ted WA0HLJ aquired 2 large solar panels from Ginny
• 40 watt panels
• controller not included
• can get 5 amp controller to get panels set up at repeater site to charge batteries.
